2. Scripts
What are scripts?
As scripts can do variety of tasks for variety of use cases, it's hard to define them as one single thing. In essence, scripts perform some type of calculations based on charts of financial instruments, such as:
Calculate average, median or standard deviation values
Filter data
Highlight data/events
Provide assisting visuals
Backtest strategies

What scripts are/are not good for?
Generally speaking, the main benefit of scripts is their ability to convert somewhat vague and subjective concepts into mechanically defined concepts. This allows wide range of benefits, such as:
Automating tasks by setting alerts
Deriving data from technical evidence, such as historical performance (backtesting)
Minimizing subjective and emotion driven decision making
No script will substitute having a sound trading strategy, but can help in constructing and validating them.

I got access to 2 scripts, what's the one with (Internal) on it?
Internal version is a private copy of the public version. Internal version will function the same way as publicly visible one, only difference is that internal version is updated more frequently, as needed. Publicly visible version will be updated less frequently, only when enough changes to the script have been made to constitute a major update. Please see Public vs. internal script for details.
Do your scripts work on any chart and timeframe?
Unless explicitly stated otherwise in script description, yes.
Do your scripts repaint?

Can your scripts be backtested?
Yes. Most script functions have built-in, verifiable backtest metrics assisting in evaluating performance and finding optimal parameters. Major functions of our scripts can also be used in any other Tradingview script that has a source input, including strategies utilizing Tradingview's native backtester.
